News at CEDARS

Ashley is on the Street Outreach Team at CEDARS. When youth drop in at the CEDARS Youth Opportunity Center, she helps meet their needs, including helping them find access to safe housing.

Penelope started dropping in at the Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) earlier this year. At nineteen, she had been on her own for some time and was in a dangerous situation.

We asked youth at the Youth Opportunity Center what they wanted you to know about them. Here are their answers.

"I originally came to work for CEDARS because I was a client several years ago. The staff during my stay had a lasting impact on me and I wanted to come work with kids like myself and have that same impact."

We’ve seen parents and teens struggle to figure out how they want to relate to one other. Giving respect is one way that can dramatically alter your relationship with your teens. It can work with children of all ages, but this article will use teens as an example.

“There are so many kids that need family that will just love them and take them in their home," says Carmen. "There are so many great resources out there to help families do it. I’m doing it. And it’s all through CEDARS.”
