(2) Youth Specialist II, CEDARS Pioneers Center (Lincoln, NE)

The CEDARS Pioneers Center provides a safe and stable environment for youth to reside following a placement disruption or for youth experiencing homelessness or who have ran away. The program operates 24/7 for youth ages 12-18. Programming includes structured groups and recreation, school support including keeping the youth attending their home school when possible and helping strengthen relationships between youth and their families. CEDARS Pioneers Center is designed to be a short term placement for youth with a goal average length of stay 3 weeks or less. The Youth Specialist II (YS II) is responsible for maintaining safety of youth, most often between the ages of 12-18. This position will include working independently at times and as a team member in the program. The candidate needs to be self-motivated. The position will include transportation to and from school appointments, activities or visits. The YS II is responsible for daily documentation of behavior of youth in care, engaging youth in life skills or educational activities providing leadership during crisis intervention, providing structure for youth, assisting in school work and engaging youth in positive activities, along with other duties as assigned. Associates or Bachelor's degree in human services or closely related field required, at least one year experience working with youth and families is preferred. A combination of relevant experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement if approved by the President & CEO. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required. Schedule#1: Sunday 2:30p-10:30p, Thursday 1p-2:30p (staff mtg), Friday 2:30p-10:30p and Saturday 2:30p-10:30p.; Schedule #2: Thursday staff mtg 1p-2:30p, Friday and Saturday 4p-12a.
