Youth Specialist III, CEDARS Pioneers Center (Lincoln, NE)

The CEDARS Pioneers Center provides a safe and stable environment for youth to reside following a placement disruption or for youth experiencing homelessness or who have ran away. The program operates 24/7 for youth ages 12-18. Programming includes structured groups and recreation, school support including keeping the youth attending their home school when possible and helping strengthen relationships between youth and their families. CEDARS Pioneers Center is designed to be a short-term placement for youth with a goal average length of stay 3 weeks or less. The YS III position is a grant-funded position. The YS III is responsible for maintaining safety of youth and the position may include transportation to and from appointments, activities or visits. The YS III is responsible for daily documentation of behavior of youth in care providing supervision and structure for youth. The YS III will conduct intakes, will be responsible for developing and facilitating groups based on youth’s needs, will be responsible for implementation of daily activities, behavior management, crisis intervention, supervision of study time, documentation and follow-up contacts. This YS III position will work closely with youth and their families in their homes to prevent at-risk youth from becoming involved with the child welfare or juvenile justice systems. This will include skill building with parents and youth both together, as well as one on one. Some duties will include wraparound services in the family home, outside of CEDARS Pioneers Center. Bachelor’s degree in human services or closely related field is preferred; at least one year of experience working with youth and families is required. A combination of education and work experience relevant to the field will be considered. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required. Schedule: Sunday 6:30a-2:30p, Monday through Thursday 12:00p-8:00p, with flexibility to work outside normal work hours based on the needs of families. Note: The Sunday shift and Tuesday from 2:30p and 4:00p are not flexible.
