Foster Parent

CEDARS Foster Care is looking for caring and responsible adults to provide a safe and stable home for youth. Every day children are removed from their home and are in need of a place to live. There are a number of ways you can provide care for a child, ranging from short-term relief care to taking a child into your home until permanency is achieved. Your willingness to help children grow and flourish can make life-changing differences.

Foster parents must meet the following qualifications:

  • 21 years of age
  • Provide proof of income
  • Have adequate room to house a child in a manner that allows him/her privacy
  • Be able to pass background checks
  • Acceptance of different racial, cultural, religious, and educational backgrounds
  • Willingness to work closely with and support child's relationships with biological family
  • Enthusiasm, consistent, structured, and adaptable
  • Self-control, even-tempered, with a good sense of humor
  • Genuine interest in helping youth who may have difficult behaviors
  • Ability to communicate unconditional love and support to a child
