Making a Daily Difference in Kids’ Lives

The children in CEDARS care, like all kids, need a warm bed, good food, and clothes on their backs. But they need even more.

The personal care items that all of us use every day are crucial to our kids. Having enough shampoo, a razor and shaving cream, soap for a daily shower are important. But supplies run short.

When the kids return to their families, or join new foster families, they take such items with them. That’s when we need more for the new youth arriving at our doors.

CEDARS gratefully accepts donations of new, sealed personal care products. Typical items include:

• Shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner

• Hair products, including combs and brushes, hair scrunchies, bobby pins, headbands

• Hair products for African American hair

• Toothbrushes and toothpaste

• Deodorant (sticks, no spray), body spray, and hand sanitizer

• Razors

• Aftershave, cologne, and perfume

• Loofah or sponge

• Laundry detergent

Other new items are also needed such as:

• Twin bedding, blankets, and bed pillows

• Twin beds and mattresses

• Reading lamps for bedrooms

• Dressers

• Storage bins

• Bath towels and washcloths

• Kitchen dishrags, towels, hot pads

• Infant items - diapers, wipes, shampoo, lotion, and onesies

• Infant bedding - crib mattress pads, crib sheets, blankets

• Membership or passes to the YMCA, Lincoln Children's Museum, Adventure Golf, or Skate Zone

• $5 gift cards to fast food restaurants

• Gift cards for gas

• Gift cards for recreational activities (movie theater, bowling, skating, Champion's)
